Junior doctors’ row: Hunt’s 6,000 deaths claim ‘was unverified’ – BBC News

It seems that there is more controversy around the seven-day-a-week NHS contracts that the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt is trying to push through.

According to the BBC News website, the figures used to back up the need for the new contracts, used data that was unpublished and uncertified.

It doesn’t really surprise me, when I used to do statistics, I frequently had to run around to verify my data. It is no wonder that these mistakes happen.

I think that the big problem here is not that he wants a seven-day-a-week NHS, but that he isn’t willing to pay for it.

However, to blame the lack of weekend shifts on an increased number of deaths is emotive and will only upset the already angry NHS staff who work very hard.

I think he has already dug himself a massive hole and he needs to step down before he fall into it.
