Now I realise that the BBC has to save licence fee money and make it a more accountable organisation, but I can’t help thinking that these cuts are going to do nothing but cheapen the content that the BBC presents.
I like ‘consuming’ TV in all formats, online, satellite and freeview, but that doesn’t mean that the BBC should make lower quality or provide less services.
Online broadcasters such as Netflix and Amazon are now making good quality programmes. I know that they get advertising and subscription money, but surely the BBC could do the same.
They have ditched a number of popular programmes and channels because of cost, and there are more shows now that have the same format and less variety.
I hope that they will evolve into a lean but high quality organisation.
