Charity says mental health support for emergency services staff still much needed | Meridian – ITV News

This report from ITV News has highlighted the need for more support and awareness of emergency services staff with mental health issues.

The charity MIND has said that staff that work for the emergency services are more likely to suffer from mental health problems than the general public.

I think the people who work every day to help us and save lives, sometimes need help too. Although they are less likely to seek support than others, they are often involved in very stressful and upsetting situations. Just like those who serve in the armed forces, they are subjected to unimaginable scenes and suffer the effects of that just like anyone else.

The support network needs to be in place to help them when they need it as well as a wider awareness of mental health to eradicate the stigma.
